Our History

Established in 1981, BVSC started off at the Lowood Recreational Complex sharing fields and a clubhouse with the local Rugby League Club.  Beginning with 5 teams, the club has gradually grown in size and success and now has its own playing fields and a stand alone clubhouse.  In 2023 BVSC had 21 teams and over 300 registered members, making it the largest sports club in the Somerset Region.  2024 is shaping up to be even bigger!

BVSC, located a short distance from the Brisbane River, has  flooded twice in its short history.  Firstly in 2011 when flood water inundated the entire complex and water came through to the height of the clubhouse ceiling and again in 2022 when flooding rose to a height of 60 cms. Each time we have come together and rebuilt our great club better than before!

Fun Fact!

Louise Carney

U15/16 Girls Coach

Having played team sports from around age 7 through to 40, I took on my first ever coaching role at the age of 13.

I have a deep seated passion about what 'playing team sports teaches us' from youth to adulthood, both on and off the field.

I’m even more passionate about girls playing in team sports, and watching them grow with confidence and improving their skill level whilst still having a sense of belonging within the team.

Awarded 2020 BVSC Senior Coach of the Year.

John Wallwork

Seniors Men's

Division 1 Coach

For over 16 years, I have been associated with the BVSC and commenced when I was coaching my sons under sixes team.

Throughout the years I  have coached many different age groups, even all the way through to the Senior Men’s Team.

Along the way I have been fortunate enough to have coached many teams including Junior Girls and Senior Women Division 1 where my daughters have been apart of!

Being a coach at BVSC, I been blessed with many rewarding experiences at team and personal levels through winning Premierships and Championships, State Titles at Zone Level and currently The QLD U21 Men’s Coach.

Most rewarding though is the achievement of players being rewarded for commitment and effort by achieving personal goals be it simply to improve their ability of the game of Football or to obtain selection for Zone and State Teams.

Throughout these years I have attended formalised Coaching Courses and clinics to continually improve and keep up to date on my Coaching skills.

Look forward to seeing you on the Training Paddock for 2021 season!
